ALS is a specialist English Language College, registered by the Australian Government to offer English Language Intensive Courses to students from many countries. We use only qualified and experienced English teachers and the most up-to-date teaching methods and techniques in the delivery of our courses. Audio-visual materials from Australia are combined with materials from England, the United States and Canada to give the student a well-rounded knowledge of accents and idioms in the English speaking world. Classroom materials are supplied free of charge to students and we have a large range of books, listening tapes, computer programs and practice tests. The College specialises in preparing students for the IELTS test, the Cambridge Examinations and for entry to Vocational and University studies in Australia. At the end of each course you will receive a Certificate of Attainment, showing the level you have achieved. Click on the Menu below and find the Best Course for you:  A. GENERAL ENGLISH FULL-TIME: 6-72 weeks (CRICOS No 062145C) This is a full-time intensive course, 5 hours a day, 5 days per week. Courses are offered in 6-week modules but if you wish, you can enrol for any period from 2-72 weeks and start any Monday morning. You don't need academic qualifications or previous English experience to join the General English course. Anyone 18 years or over can enrol. General English is taught over six levels: 1. Beginner 2. Elementary 3. Pre-Intermediate 4. Intermediate 5. Upper Intermediate 6. Advanced B. GENERAL ENGLISH PART-TIME: 15 hours per week. This course is only available to Australian Residents and students with Visitor or Working Holiday Visas. Part-time courses are not available to students who hold an Australian Student Visa. C. ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES (EAP): 12 weeks (CRICOS No 062146B) This is a full-time course (25 hours per week), designed for students who are going on to University, or further study courses in Australia. EAP gives you the necessary skills and English language ability to study in a University or Vocational College environment. Our ALS Counsellor can help you decide which further study course to choose and assist you with your enrolment. D. IELTS EXAM PREPARATION - 3 levels: 2-36 Weeks. (CRICOS No 062147A) This is a full-time, 25 hour per week course, designed to prepare students for the IELTS English Language Test. IELTS Accelerator is offered at 3 levels (3 separate classes), at Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced. Students learn examination techniques and take practice tests under the guidance of an experienced IELTS teacher. E. CAMBRIDGE EXAM PREPARATION – First Certificate, 12 Weeks (see dates) (CRICOS No 062149K) Run three times a year, in January, March and September. The Cambridge First Certificate test is held in Brisbane at these times, coincide with the completion dates of the courses. Classes are taught by qualified and experienced teachers and up to date materials and practice tests are provided. F. CAMBRIDGE EXAM PREPARATION – Advanced: 12 Weeks (see dates) (CRICOS No 062148M) Run three times a year, in January, March and September. The Cambridge Advanced Certificate exam is held in Brisbane at these times, coincide with the completion dates of the courses. Classes are taught by qualified and experienced teachers and up to date materials and practice tests are provided. G. CAMBRIDGE EXAM PREPARATION – Proficiency: 12 Weeks (see dates) (CRICOS No 062150F) Run twice a year, in March and September. The Cambridge Proficiency exam is held in Brisbane at these times, coincide with the completion dates of the courses. Classes are taught by qualified and experienced teachers and up to date materials and practice tests are provided. H. "ICEBREAKER" Intensive Conversation Course This course is held at the popular vacation times of March-April and July-August each year, “Icebreaker” intensive English conversation courses are 2, 3, or 4 weeks in duration. Afternoon Elective Classes (Students' choice) Students enrolled in our Intensive English Language Courses have the opportunity to design part of their course to suit their own special needs.
